JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

An exciting initiative at the JL Junior Academy is aiming to make golf the new sporting passion of the region’s children. The Junior Development Programme is an educational syllabus course designed to not only introduce boys and girls to the game of golf, but also help them develop the skills and knowledge of the game that will keep them interested and motivated long enough for the golf bug to bite.

There is tremendous interest in playing the game of golf amongst boys and girls, but there are very few structured programmes to keep children involved long enough for them to really start enjoying the game. Now for the first time at the Academy, an exciting junior golf programme is going to be available to young people which not only makes it easy for them to start playing golf, but also helps them to progress to a level where they can compete with other youngsters, or simply enjoy playing a healthy, relaxing sport for the rest of their lives."

Youngsters joining the programme at the JL Junior Academy will receive a comprehensive manual, which puts as much emphasis on the rules and etiquette as it does on playing the game, and there will be five levels to work through, each comprising an 8-week course of one-hour lessons.

The extremely attractive and carefully assembled manual enables youngsters to see what's in store, week-by-week for each of the 5 levels and each level is marked by a series of skills and knowledge challenges which the children must complete before they can move on the next level.

To get involved they don’t need to be a member of the golf club, and they don’t even have to own their own golf equipment, as we can provide everything they need to get started on the course.

JUNIOR GOLF DAYS

During the school holidays our coaches run golf activity days that include a morning of coaching and games on the range, lunch, then a team competition on the neighbouring course or short game area.

The course will also include:

Simplified rules and basic etiquette of golf
The Set-up
The Swing
The Short Game
Putting

The day will then conclude with a prize presentation that parents can attend.

The day starts at 9.30 a.m. and finishes at 5.00 p.m. and children are supervised throughout by our qualified staff who are all CRB checked. (minimum 6 years of age).

The Short Game

This plays a huge part of improving someone's score. It is not all about how good your swing looks. No matter how bad a day it may seem with a good short game you can always get out of trouble. Short game clinics at the JL Junior Academy are designed to be fun and informative, with games and competitions being a priority. They are designed to last for 3 hours and will include;

30 - 50 Yard Pitching
10 - 30 Yard Pitching
Chipping
Chip & Run
Lob Shots
Bunker Shots
Reading & Judging the Greens
The Putting Stroke

AFTER SCHOOL COACHING

We work closely with local schools to organise coaching sessions during and after school on a group basis. This gives many students the opportunity to experience the game in a golf environment.

TRI-GOLF IN SCHOOLS

We currently work with several local primary schools to provide golf tuition on site using Tri-Golf equipment. Tri-golf is equipment that is designed for safe use indoors and out, and is ideal for giving children their first chance to try the game. We can deliver either a one-off trial session or a structured programme of Tri-Golf coaching. Please note: For practical purposes we are unable to consider delivering Tri-Golf sessions outside of a 15-mile radius from the centre.

GOLF BIRTHDAY PARTIES

Golf Birthday Parties are available all year round;

A Tri-Golf golf birthday party for 3-7 year olds. A one hour of indoor or outdoor specially designed TRI golf fun golf activities and golf games for your child and their friends. Watch out Mum's and Dad's the golf competition gets noisy with great team and individual golf party games.

A party for 7-10 year olds. The party will include an introduction to golf, specifically;

The Swing
The Short Game
Putting

Also include fun activities, such as: Chipping and Putting Competition.

Individual lessons can also be taken on our new short game area. This will include putting, chipping and bunker play.

All individual lessons include a large basket of balls and the facility to send your golf lesson to an email address or download to a flash memory stick so that you can go over it with your child later, to make certain that they remember what they learned.

You can watch your child’s lessons while relaxing on the comfortable sofas in the glass-backed gallery so you can praise them on their progress.
