You can really get as creative as you wish on this facility attempting shots you may not think you would ever play on the course, but remember you can never be over prepared for you next round of golf.
The short game is the part of golf that most golfers neglect, yet 80% of golf is played within a 100 yards of the flag. This means you should be spending more time on your short game than your long game (select the link to Ideal Practice sessions).
The short game area at the Cambridge Golf and Conference Centre is built to enable you to practice your chipping, putting, pitch shots, bunker shots and lob shots, shots that you need to master if you are serious about improving your golfing handicap.
Realising that no two putting greens are alike; our variable gradient putting green allows you to practice putts taking into account different slopes which are synthetic allowing you to use them all year round being hard-wearing and self-draining.
We have installed a water feature to encourage golfers to work on their lob shots, so they can really practice getting the ball high into the air. Having water in front of you means that you cannot cheat and play a chip and run, instead, you have to get the ball airborne quickly, getting it to arc high and land softly so it only travels a short distance on the ground, setting you up for an easy putt.
The short game facility is fully floodlit, open until 10pm Monday to Saturday and 5pm Sunday to allow golfers to continue practising after dark. You can even use the short game area in the long evenings in the middle of winter and the greens will be perfect and well-lit.
